Why You Should Stop Comparing Yourself To Others + 5 Inspirational quotes | Only on Five Foot and Fabulous!

Before we get going today, I want you to look in the mirror and see how perfectly wonderful you are. I’ll wait right here while you do. All finished? Perfect. That’s how you should see yourself every single day, as someone who is amazing and totally, 100% worth it.

In today’s age, we have a tendency of comparing ourselves to other people. This is especially common among millennials because we often feel that everything is a competition. Even without realizing it, I can find myself comparing all aspects of my life to other people’s. Why do I not have a 4.0 GPA like she does? Why doesn’t my blog have as many views as that one? How is that person from high school already engaged but I’m still single? I bet I’m not the only person who thinks these things from time to time.

The thing is, I know I’m living a good life right now, and so are you. Just because things might not turn out the way you planned them to doesn’t mean that you’re any further behind than other people. Our lives are just different. Consider this post a reminder that you are amazing just the way you are.

There is no one else like you

You, my dear, are 100% unique. There is no one else in the world who thinks the way you do or makes the same choices, and that’s absolutely amazing. Take your uniqueness and use it as a tool to stand out in the world. Be the best possible you that you can be.

You are capable of anything

You can do anything you can set your mind to, even if it doesn’t happen as quickly as you would like. Although it can be discouraging to get turned down, you should never stop trying to achieve your goals. Vera Wang didn’t design her first dress until she was 40, and that was after getting turned down as editor-in-chief of Vogue. JK Rowling got turned down 12 different times before she got picked up by her publisher. You never know what your story will be!

There are people who are comparing themselves to you

This might seem like a crazy thought, but just hear me out: There are people who are jealous of the life you live. That’s right, the life you might think is boring and dull actually appeals to quite a few people. There is probably someone creeping on your Facebook profile right now, comparing their life to yours. You know what they say: “The grass is always greener on the other side.”

The truth is, we’ll probably never stop comparing ourselves to others. It’s just a part of our genetic code. However, I hope that next time you find yourself critiquing your life, you’ll stop and realize that everything is better than you think. Never forget how amazing you are!

Before you go, here are some inspirational quotes to help brighten your day

  1. Love this post! I think I needed it. As you said, it’s easy to fall into the comparison trap, and I often end up wishing I was someone else (or at least a better version of myself). Thanks for reminding me that I’m just as amazing as everyone else!
