Baby, it’s cold outside! Excuse the reference to the Christmas song, but dang is it true! Next week, they’re forecasting temperatures in the single digits. Is it too late for me to migrate south for the winter?
To stay warm in the cold Iowa winter, you can’t walk outside without long sleeves and a coat over top. Believe me when I say that short sleeves are not enough (unless you like being cold, of course!). When it gets below freezing, I highly suggest wearing a hat and gloves as well.
My winter uniform almost always follows this equation: coat + sweater + jeans + boots. In the case of this outfit, I’m wearing a black Tek Gear coat over a white and black chunky sweater from the Gap. Combined with distressed denim and my platinum Dr. Martens, this makes for a perfect outfit for an Iowa winter. If you’re looking for a pair of great boots, I definitely recommend Dr. Martens! They come in a variety of different styles and colors, and have fantastic traction – an absolute must for snowy sidewalks!
