Monthly Musings: September

Cedar Ridge Winery & Distillery | Iowa bourbon | Iowa winery

When I opened the “new post” page for this recap, I just kind of stared at it for awhile. My September was nothing but just another mediocre month. Nothing worth mentioning really happened in my personal life, to be honest.

The most exciting thing happened the last weekend of the month, aka 2 days before this post will be published. I’m taking a class on wine, beer, and spirits (yes, we drink every week in class!), and one of our assignments is to visit a winery or distillery. My mom always wanted to visit Cedar Ridge distillery since she’s a fan of their bourbon, so my parents and I set off to Swisher, IA to taste some wine and tour the facility. I’ll be posting about this experience more later in the week!

In regards to this here blog, I started my weekly newsletter up again! If you subscribe to the newsletter, you’ll get a recap of all the posts that went up that week, discounts on my styling service, special announcements, and more! Shameless subscribe button below…

Oh, and I’m also applying for post-grad jobs. So if you know anyone looking for a dedicated apparel merchandising major, hit me up because I need a job!

Reading

Milk And Honey by Rupi Kaur – So I finally jumped on the bandwagon and read this amazing poetry book! It’s essentially the authors story of love, hurting, and finally self-love. It’s a great book that every woman should read!

Listening

Small Town Murder Podcast – This podcast by James Pietragallo and Jimmie Whisman puts a twist on true crime podcasts. Instead of being somber and serious, they incorporate humor (never at the victims’ expense, though!). Definitely recommend for anyone who likes crime + comedy!

Too Much To Ask by Niall Horan – Niall released a new song and he recently announced his album will be coming out next month! So excited!

Watching

Grey’s Anatomy – Grey’s is BACK! I won’t spoil anything from the two-part season finale, but I got so. mad. at the end of it! Why must Shonda Rhimes hurt us so much??

House of Cards – I FINALLY started watching this show, and I’m kicking myself for waiting so long. Y’all probably know I’m pretty into politics, and it’s kind of cool to see the kind of things that happen behind the scenes. I know it’s fiction, but I’d like to think it’s at least somewhat accurate!
