If you ask me, October is overall a great month. The weather is prime fall, I get to break my sweaters out again, it’s a bit spooky…but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t prefer the last couple months of the year. Sure, I’m not a HUGE fan of the cold, but like I said in Friday’s post, I just love the holidays!
*Cut to me, listening to Christmas music while writing this post*
Anyway, I’ll say it again: October treated me pretty well! I spent a couple weekends with my parents in my hometown, I’ve been going on the job hunt, and I decided to cut my posting schedule down to two days a week! I say that now, but I’m actually publishing a bonus post tomorrow, so don’t miss it!
Without further ado, here’s all the things I enjoyed last month!
The Princess Saves Herself In This One by Amanda Lovelace: If I’m being honest, I’m not a huge fan of it. I don’t want to lessen the author’s experiences, but it reads very much like milk and honey, but not quite as good. If you’re looking for your next poetry book, I would say to go with the sun and her flowers by Rupi Kaur – I haven’t read it yet, but it’s next on my list!
Small Town Murder Podcast: I mentioned this one last time, but it’s still so good! True crime is definitely one of my favorite genres of podcasting!
My Favorite Murder Podcast: Again, another true crime podcast. This one is by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, and they basically just talk about murders they think are cool. I know, it sounds a bit weird, but if you enjoy crime shows and podcasts, you’ll love this one too!
Flicker album by Niall Horan: Niall released his new album this month and it’s FANTASTIC! I’m very proud of how successful he is as a solo artist, and I’d just like to remind everyone that he was my favorite One Direction member all along.
New Rules by Dua Lipa: So this is a catchy song that’s been stuck in my head the whole month! If you haven’t heard it yet, go give it a listen!
The Five: This is a single season British drama/crime show surrounding events that happened 20 years previously. When DNA from a boy that went missing 20 years ago shows up on a crime scene, a group of friends does everything they can to try and find him. It’s honestly a great show, and it’s perfect to watch if you’re looking for something that doesn’t need a lot of commitment!
Limitless: This a TV show spinoff of the 2011 movie with the same name. A regular guy takes a pill called NZT that allows him access to the full capacity of his mind and uses his new ability to help the FBI solve cases. This is another single season show, but it’s equally funny and dramatic!
Mind Hunter: I talked about this on my Instagram story a couple weeks back, and I still stand behind what I said about it being a great show! It’s based on a book written by one of the founders of the behavioral analysis unit of the FBI, and it basically goes into how they came up with profiling and identifying serial killers. Totally rad, especially if you love Criminal Minds!
Ozark: This is Netflix Original for people who have an empty space where Breaking Bad used to be. It has kind of a similar storyline of a father trying to hide his illegal activity to make money and keep his family safe. It stars Jason Bateman, so watch it for him if nothing else!
Gilmore Girls (again, whoops): What can I say? I’m obsessed!
And as I’m writing this, I’m watching Stranger Things season 2! Although it’s technically November, it’s spooky so I thought it belonged in October!
I finally found a graduation dress! This Altar’d State* dress is gorgeous, so now all I have to do is find the shoes!
