Monthly Musings: November 2017

Happy December, people! If you’re reading this on the day it was published, then I am currently in my last full week of school for life. That’s right, I’ll be officially graduated next Saturday and I cannot wait! I’m not going to get all sappy about it now (don’t worry, that post will come later), but I will tell you all the crazy things that happened last month!

So November started off pretty rad because I got to meet Lea DeLaria after she did a little show at my school. For those of you who don’t recognize her name right away, she plays Boo on Orange is The New Black, and it was so cool to be able to meet her and take a picture with her. To top it off, after I tagged her in my Insta story, she sent me a message saying “Cool boots.” Definitely the highlight of that week!

The Tuesday after, I got a job offer! I love the company, and I had really been hoping for a job there, so I was beyond thrilled when I got the phone call! I would also like to say that the Vice monthly horoscope told me that November 7th (the same day) would be a great day for me regarding my career. And people say astrology isn’t legit!  A couple weeks later, my mom and I took a little road trip to Chicago to look at apartments and order some furniture. When we pulled into the drive of the complex I signed a lease at, I immediately got a good feeling.

So now I’m just getting the final details figured out: internet, electric, etc. It’s a bit stressful, but I’m beyond happy! Anyway, here’s all the other things I’ve been enjoying this month!

Reading

It Gets Worse by Shane Dawson: So I used to watch Shane Dawson videos all through middle school, and I recently got back into watching his more recent stuff. I was so happy to see that he’s in a great place in his life, and after hearing that he had written a couple books, I decided to pick up his latest one. It’s a collection of short stories about different occasions in his life, and it’s a great read if you are a fan of his!

Watching

The Americans: I feel like I mentioned this one a couple months ago, but in case I didn’t, I’ll do it again! This is a series about undercover Russian spies who have basically assimilated into 1980’s United States. They have families and full time jobs, speak perfect English, and you would never know they were actually part of the KGB. It’s a great show that only gets better as you watch it, and it’s available to stream on Amazon Prime Video!

American Horror Story: Roanoke: So this is last year’s season of AHS because for some reason I can’t ever keep up with the show when it’s on. I think this is an unpopular opinion, but I actually really liked this season because it was very Murder House-esque, which we all know is the BEST AHS season of all time.

Grey’s Anatomy: Can we just take a second to talk about the Grey’s mid season finale? I can’t believe I have to wait a few more weeks to find out what happens to everyone!

The Bachelorette (Emily Maynard’s season): So Bachelor fans all know that the newest Bachelor is Arie Luyendyk, Jr., but people who are new to the fandom (me), might not really know what he’s all about. Luckily, ABC put up Emily Maynard’s season of the Bachelorette so we could all get to know him a little bit better. I have to admit, I was a little unsure about the choice of Arie, but I do have to say that after watching about half the season, I am definitely on the Arie train!

Listening

Small Town Murder: Of course, I gotta give my boys at STM a shoutout. If you like true crime and comedy, you’ll love this podcast!

My Favorite Murder: Again, true crime and comedy meet for this amazing podcast by Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff, and I’ve been in the process of catching up from the first episode. I’m currently going through at least 2 episodes a day and I’m a bit over halfway through!

The Rosecast: My favorite dudes at The Rosecast are spending a few weeks covering Emily’s season of The Bachelorette in preparation for Arie’s season that premieres on New Year’s Day! They’re always funny and they give the best commentary, so I definitely recommend them if you’re looking for a great Bachelor-related pod!
