July took place across 4 states, 6 towns/cities, 1 mountain range, and 1 amusement park, not to mention countless cities passed through while traveling! I guess you could say it was a pretty busy month!
My parents came to visit me in Chicagoland the first weekend of July so we could go to the city for my mom’s birthday. We had beautiful weather all weekend long, and we went on a super interesting walking tour about gangsters and the Chicago mob. If you’re ever in Chicago, I recommend going on one of the free walking tours! They’re a great way to learn more about the city + see places you might not otherwise see. I did some in London too, and I strongly recommend those as well!
July 7th was my last day at my internship at Claire’s! I was an e-commerce intern and I loved every single day there. As crazy as it sounds, I actually miss the 9-5 corporate life!
Another highlight of this month was my family vacation down to North Carolina. My uncle has a house in Highlands, so we take any opportunity we can to visit! The only catch is that it’s a 15.5 hour drive from Iowa. Yikes. But it’s always worth it once we get there! I mean seriously, how freaking beautiful is this place?
For the last 5-ish years, I’ve been DYING to ride some rollercoasters. There’s not much I love more than the adrenaline rush from a good rollercoaster – seriously, the faster & crazier, the better! Since we were all due for a good dose of adrenaline, we stopped at Dollywood on the way home. It. Was. Awesome. If you’re going soon, you have to go on the Wild Eagle, Drop Line, and Mystery Mine rides!
The last few days of the month were just spent in my hometown. Nothing special, but hey, it was a busy month otherwise!
Ooh, I also launched my styling services! There’s still a chance to get one for 15% off so sign up today!
The Cutaway by Christina Kovac: Finally finished this one! It definitely picked up near the end, and although I thought it was a bit predictable, it was still a good read!
I am now halfway through Second Life by SJ Watson. I picked it up because it was only $5.98 at Barnes & Noble, but it’s actually pretty good! It’s about a woman who is distraught about her sister’s sudden death, and in the process of trying to figure out what really happened, she is introduced to a whole different side of herself.
Lana Del Rey released her new album!! After nearly 2 years of waiting, we finally got Lust For Life! I love all the songs on the album, but my favorites are God Bless America – And All The Beautiful Women In It and Coachella – Woodstock In My Mind. If you haven’t listened to the album, you need to now!
I’m still listening to the Rosecast Podcast which is a Bachelorette podcast by two hilarious guys. If you like the Bachelorette and witty banter, this is definitely something you need to listen to!
Y’all, if Peaky Blinders isn’t in your life, you need to get it there. It’s a British period drama set in 1920’s Birmingham, and it centers around a gangster-like family. Cellian Murphey stars in it so there’s a great dose of eye candy! You can find it on Netflix!
Of course, I’m still watching The Bachelorette. You can catch my recaps here, but I have a very bad feeling that Rachel’s going to pick the guy I least want to win (looking at you Bryan). Seriously, I would’ve even preferred Penguin Guy over Bryan! There’s only two more episodes left of the show, but one of them is just a “men tall all” type of thing. Ugh.
