Monthly Musings: August

September is here! You know what that means, right? FALL!

Just kidding, fall doesn’t start for a few weeks yet. September being here means that August is finished. Gone. Done-zo. And honestly, I’m glad. To be as transparent as possible, August was kind of an emotionally tolling month. I had a lot of stressors on my plate and I have been struggling to keep my mind at bay. Luckily, I was able to spend Labor Day weekend with my parents and that helped me to get grounded again.

On the bright side, August brought the start of my very last semester of school! I’m finishing my college career with 12 credits (one of those classes happening to be all about wine tasting!), and I’m starting to get back into the gym a few times a week. I started a cycling class that I’ve been all about!

Other notable events: dyeing my hair back to brown, redecorating my apartment bedroom, and quitting my part time job to focus on school!

Reading

Still reading Second Life! It’s a good book, and I would’ve finished it by now, but I don’t have a whole lot of extra time now that school started!

Listening

I’ve still been trying to get into a good podcast, but I haven’t found any that I’ve really clicked with yet! I’m still a huge fan of Rosecast for all things Bachelor Nation, though! If you have any podcasts that you love to listen to, I’d love to get recommendations! I’m a big fan of comedy in relation to pop culture, current events/politics, or crime!

My mom introduced me to this Irish folk band called The High Kings! They’re by no means a new band or anything, but they have amazing music! It’s very soothing and nice to listen to!

Of course, I have to mention Look What You Made Me Do by T-Swizzle. I’m honestly not a huge fan of her or her new song, but her marketing and video were admittedly very good. I find myself singing along to the song sometimes, though!

Watching

I hopped on the Bachelor In Paradise bandwagon, and I’m kind of loving it! It’s messy, dysfunctional, and wonderful! Although I do have to say, Dean is no longer my favorite person! He’s being a huge jerk to Kristina, and I can’t believe D-Lo is going along with it. I was a bit surprised to see Tickle Monster back, but I’m honestly not mad at it.

  1. This season of BIP has been so boring! Usually I love it because of how messy it is but I haven’t been able to get into this season.

    1. I haven’t really been crazy about any of the couples this season!

  2. Maybe it helps you if you try reading before bed. For me it does, because when everything else is done there is more time to read afterwards (;

    1. True! Thanks for the advice!

  3. Yay for your last semester! I hope it’s amazing for ya. 🙂 I completely forgot about BIP! I have been so side-tracked with live tv. I blame it on netflix.

    1. Haha Netflix is definitely distracting!

  4. Oh I love bachelor in paradise and yes! I could’t believe Dean either!

    1. He’s just been such a jerk!

  5. Agreed on Swifty! I used to love her and lately I was like blah. But lately her marketing and branding has been ON POINT! Can’t really ignore her. Haha

  6. This is my first time watching BIP and I’m totally into it too – despite how ridiculous it is, haha. I’m also no longer Team Dean. What happened?! Ugh!

    1. Ugh Dean! Why is he the worst?!

  7. So sorry that you had such an emotionally taxing month. I hope that September is better for you! I love podcasts. I tend to listen to true crime podcasts, though, so they definitely aren’t for everyone.

    1. I love True Crime too!

  8. I have never watched any of BIP. All of my friends do but I just can’t stomach it.

    1. It’s definitely a different breed than the other series!

  9. Sounds like you had a great August! I used to watch Bachelor in Paradise years ago when it first started but haven’t seen it since!

  10. I’m so glad August is OVER too! And I’m obsessed with TSwift’s new song(s)!

    1. LWYMMD is pretty good!

  11. I’m hoping September is better than August was for you! Your new embroidered dress is super cute and of course I love Taylor’s new songs (:

  12. I LOVE Taylor Swift’s new song, but I’ve always been a huge fan of hers so I may be a little biased.

Even though we’re just going into Spring where I live, I still love reading about everyone’s love of fall! It’s nice that everyone seems to enjoy this time of year in the northern hemisphere, I just wish I could join in on the festivities!
