Wait, didn’t I just write one of these for March? How is it that the months keep going by so fast? I’m so not okay with this!
Nonetheless, April was a pretty great month for me! The first week was Fashion Week for my school, all leading up to our huge Fashion Show production on April 8th. I wrote a post on The Fashion Show last year if you want to learn more about it (warning: old post, awkward poses, and poor photo quality)! One of my favorite parts of Fashion Week are the occasions I get to dress up for! This photo is from Fashion’s Night Out!
I also made two pretty big life decisions this month! The first decision was to graduate a semester early. After taking a second to really think about my goals and what classes I had left to take, I realized it was the best option. So now ya girl Anna is set to graduate in December! Look out, world!
The second big decision has to do with my very long-winded internship search. I finally accepted an internship at a Chicago-land based company and I couldn’t be more excited! If anyone is going to be in the Schaumburg area from mid-May to July, you should totally let me know so we can connect!
Other than all that stuff, April was filled with work and class projects to round out the semester. Not too shabby of a month, if I do say so myself! Now the only thing standing between me and summer is this week’s finals!
Yep, still reading The Widow. Lucky for me, I’ve had more time to read the past week or two so I started getting back into it again! Hopefully I’ll have finished this book + another one by the time I write my next monthly recap!
Two words: Harry Styles. His new song, Sign of The Times is amazingly beautiful. Like brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it beautiful. This could also come from my long-time love of One Direction, but Harry is honestly so talented.
The Chainsmokers also released a new album called Memories. There’s a lot of great songs on the album, but the one I’m listening to most often is Young.
Lana Del Rey released her next single off her upcoming album, Lust For Life. The song is conveniently called the same thing, and it features The Weeknd. It’s a great track and I’m excited to hear the rest of the album when it comes out!
13 Reasons Why – I think we all know what this is about. While I did like the series and think it was well made, I believe that the producers and directors could have included more about suicide prevention and resources for people who need them. There was a half hour special discussing some of these topics right after the last episode on Netflix, however I know many people did not watch it. I feel as if this discussion took place between episodes, it would have been much more effective. If you have any thought that someone you know may be suffering from depression, please reach out to them and show them that you care.
Shameless – Shameless is still a very rad show! I haven’t watched it for a couple weeks due to school and time and what not, but I can’t wait to get back into it!
Girlboss – I wish I didn’t have to say this, but I’m a bit disappointed with Girlboss. At this point, I’m only about halfway through the series, but it just doesn’t do it for me. I am a huge fan of Sophia Amoruso (she’s like my idol), and I loved the book, but I feel like the series just doesn’t capture it*. I’m hoping that my opinion changes as I watch the rest, though!
*I realize this is a loose retelling of Sophia’s story and not a factual documentary, but it’s still off to me.
Old episodes of MTV Making The Video – Okay so technically this is a May 1st thing, but I’m going to include it anyway! Just before midnight on May 1st, I decided to watch the video for “It’s Gonna Be Me” because of the lovely meme:
It was then that I fell down a YouTube wormhole. After watching that video, I decided to take a look at another NSYNC gem – Pop. I was looking at some of the comments, and someone noted that Joey Fatone had a body double for the wide-angle group dance scenes. Someone replied to that comment and said they found it out through an MTV Making The Video. I knew I had to uncover this hidden treasure, and I was not disappointed. 48 minutes later and it was basically 1 am and time for me to go to bed. The next morning, I realized there were TWO MORE (shorter) videos about Bye Bye Bye and It’s Gonna Be Me. I traveled back in time to 2000, but it was definitely worth it.
