When you’re a fashion major, you hear the word “aesthetic” quite frequently. Brands, people, and store layouts have their own aesthetics. I think my personal aesthetic is a little tricky to pin down. I’m one of the most girly people you’ll ever meet, but I have a very laid back demeanor. Due to that, bright colors are definitely not for me and neither are daring silhouettes. The things I do love? Anything that glitters, neutral colors, red, pink, and denim. Lately I’ve been interested in combining girly and grungy elements to create my outfits, and this look is the perfect example.
The combination of a girly tulle skirt and the classically grungy tattoo choker creates something I like to call the “Edgy Ballerina” aesthetic. They normally wouldn’t be paired together, but when styled correctly, they just work. I also think the black mules help to solidify the look because they’re dark, yet the metallic heel helps to lighten their visual weight. This is actually one of my favorite outfits on the blog because I think it perfectly represents my personality!
