Hello, friends, and happy Halloween!

I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping lately because I’ve been searching for the perfect dress to wear to graduation. On my journey, I’ve found many dresses I’ve liked, only to find out that they were ridiculously out of my price range. Defeated, I kept scrolling down the page, hoping to find a similar version for a lower cost.

After approximately the 172nd time this happened, an idea sparked in my head: “Designer vs. Dupe!” It was genius! TLC, let me know when you want me to sign a contract for a show with you!

So maybe it’s not that big of a deal because I know other bloggers do things similar to this, but I just thought it was interesting to see just how close you can get to the original version by shopping off the high street.

For this post I gathered together six fall clothing items: a jacket, sweater, cardigan, midi skirt, boots, and gloves. Most of the dupes come from Topshop, but there is a Mango cardigan in there for a bit of variety.

Designers vs Dupes | Knockoffs and copies | fashion knock off | Designer fashion | affordable fashion

Golden Goose Tweed Coat ($1,440) vs. Topshop Longline Checked Coat ($150)

Boutique Moschino Cardigan ($750) vs. Mango Embroidered Cardigan ($80)

3.1 Phillip Lim Embellished Cold Shoulder Sweater ($550) vs. Topshop Embellished Cold Shoulder Sweater ($90)

Prada Pleated Metallic Skirt ($2,050) vs. Glitter Rainbow Pleat Midi Skirt ($65)

Giuseppe Zanotti Glitter Sock Boots ($695) vs. Topshop Glitter Pointed Sock Boots ($65)

Marni Leather-Trimmed Shearling Gloves ($710) vs. Topshop Pink Faux Fur Leather Gloves ($48)

So the main differences between these pieces of clothing is that the designer labels use higher quality materials. Instead of a polyester blend, they’ll use wool. They’ll use real shearling and leather instead of the faux alternatives. Depending on your needs and wants, that’s totally okay!

I’m not gonna lie, I actually prefer some of the dupes to the originals! Like, I would totally rock those $65 boots if I could actually walk in stilettos that high! But if anyone is feeling especially charitable, I do quite love the designer coat and skirt…

In all seriousness, I want to know what your thoughts are! Do you actively search for knockoffs when you’re shopping? Which of these items are better than their pair? Let me know in the comments!

  3. I agree, a lot of dupes are more wearable day-to-day while some designer pieces can be a little over the top. Love that you found so many designer looking pieces at consumer friendly price points!

  4. I love posts like this! Isn’t it crazy how many good dupes are out there?! Good luck dress hunting! Even though I had a May graduation I remember I had the HARDEST time finding a dress I wanted for graduation- you don’t want too formal but you also don’t want too casual!

  10. Love this post. It’s hard to find quality clothes that don’t cost a fortune! You can still find designer like items for a fraction of the price.

  13. Great dupes! It’s insane to me how much some of these brands charge! Even if you have the $2,000 for a sparkly pleated skirt it seems a little silly to spend it!
