There’s nothing better than coming back to a cozy home that is 100% perfect for you! I’m lucky enough to live in a great apartment that gave me the opportunity to decorate to my tastes. As you can all probably tell from my outfits, my favorite colors are dusty pink and anything that lives on the gray scale, and my apartment definitely reflects that.
I’ve been anxious to get this post up on the blog because I love spending time in my living room. I used to be a bedroom-body when I lived at home and when I shared an apartment with roommates in college, but now that I have the whole apartment to myself, my living room is definitely my favorite spot. I love to curl up on the couch with my kitten and a cup of coffee and watch my favorite shows after a long day at work – I’m currently catching up on This Is Us! No spoilers!
It gave me great pride to decorate my living room cohesively. Many of the pieces you’ll see in this post are from places like TJ Maxx and HomeGoods, because I believe that you can always find the best pieces in unexpected places!
Couch Bob’s Discount Furniture // Fashion quotes TJ Maxx // & symbol TJ Maxx
Ottoman At Home // Floor Lamp Target // Pink Pillow Target
Table Lamp Kate Spade // Side Table Hayneedle
I had to get all my big pieces of furniture (couches, bed, etc.) new from furniture stores because I didn’t really have my own. Sure, I had my bedroom furniture from home, but my parents wanted to keep that there for when I go back to visit or if they have guests. My couch and chair in the living room came from a discount furniture place that had some really great pieces! If you’re in the Chicagoland area, I highly recommend going to Bob’s if you’re looking for some new furniture.
Blanket DKNY (via HomeGoods) // Pillow Online (old – can’t remember where I got it!)
This pillow has been with me since my freshman year of college! I got it right after my first trip to London (can I go back?) and it was so fun because I actually knew where these places were! The blanket is another HomeGoods find. It’s so cozy and soft and is perfect for lounging around on a cold day!
Floor Lamp Target // Pink Pillow Target // Table Lamp Kate Spade // Side Table Hayneedle // Coasters Target
Not much more to see in this picture, but I still wanted to include it so you guys could get a sense of what fits into a smaller space! The couch isn’t full size, but it comfortably sits 3 people, and the chair works great at an angle! For some perspective, this wall is about 14 feet long.
TV Samsung via Sam’s Club // TV Stand Target // Clock Target // Artwork Z Gallerie
Coat Rack Pier One // Record Player Crosley // Record Stand Urban Outfitters
And what would a living room be without a television? I used to have the tiniest TV ever (we’re talking 24-ish inches), so I used my graduation money to get a new one! This one is a 40″ 4K TV from Sam’s Club – and it was only $330! I highly recommend going to Sam’s to buy bigger electronics since they run really great deals for members. The TV stand itself was another great deal from Target! It’s sturdy and has plenty of shelving for movies!
Grids Target // Gallery wall pieces Target
It took the longest time for me to find the right wall decor for this area, though. I knew I wanted something chic but not too bold, but it was difficult to find that style at a low price! I actually found the print on the right side of the clock in a Z Gallerie store, but I found its pair on the store’s website after scouring the internet for something to go with it. Thank goodness! On the adjacent wall, I decided to go with some simple grids I found in the office section at Target! They’re perfect for hanging photos and other keepsakes I might want out.
Table & Chairs Bob’s Furniture // Art prints Harrod’s // Letter board Hobby Lobby
Coffee Sign Target // Placemats via HomeGoods
As far as the dining area goes, it’s pretty simple. The table has another leaf, but since it’s just me, I figured I only need one leaf out unless I have company. The two prints were a find in the gift area at Harrod’s a couple summers back, and of course I had to get a letter board! You can expect to see it in many Instagram posts in the future!
And that’s pretty much it for my main living area! It’s not a huge space, but it’s perfect for a single lady and a cat to get along just fine! And speaking of cat, here’s a photo of the best thing in this entire place!
How did you decorate your living area? Did you use pieces you already had or did you pretty much start from scratch? Let me know in the comments!
